Shop for Vitamins

The few dollars you may save buying supermarket vitamins is not worth feeling tired & slow, losing hair without re-growth, or digging yourself out of anemia in two years.

Children’s chewable vitamins are good for a 40 pound child, not a 265 pound bariatric patient. Prenatal vitamins are specialized for the condition of pregnancy – we aren’t pregnant, we had bariatric surgery.

A recent study showed that by the end of the first year 59% of bariatric patients’ required additional supplements; after two years the number increased to 98%. The study concluded that basic multivitamins are not effective at preventing deficiency in gastric bypass.

Any time you alter the body it changes the way it functions; low iron, low B-12, and osteoporosis are showing up in the most careful bariatric post-ops. Bariatric patients should take vitamins formulated for bariatric patients.
